Heaphy Track Heli-Hike

One of our nine Great Walks the Heaphy Track is traditionally a four-day tramp but you can enjoy some of the very best parts in only a day with a guide and utilising helicopter access. Ideal for families or couples this is a most amazing day experience.

After meeting your guide depart Nelson in your helicopter taxi, flying west into the stunning Kahurangi National Park for a mountain landing and some morning tea. From a vantage point overlooking the region your guide will point out the unusual geological features of the area before continuing on to a point on track from where you’ll begin your hike.

The great thing about having your own ‘taxi’ is you can decide on your starting point along the track, choosing how long you want to hike, anywhere between 1 – 4 hours, ending on the West Coast Nikau Palm fringed beach. Relax and enjoy a well-earned picnic lunch, play on the beach, soak up the beauty and tranquillity of this truly beautiful wilderness.

When you’re ready climb on board for the return flight, flying over the rugged North West coastline viewing seal colonies and eroded rock formations before landing at the archways of Wharariki Beach. Flying on form here enjoy stunning aerial views of Farewell Spit and Golden Bay before returning to your destination.
